HTTYD, for short, makes up for its uninspiring plot and rather threadbare characterization with some sparkling character design on the main dragon [have a look at the pics] and some nimble, even occasionally spectacular, use of 3D. Was my experience of the film enriched by the 3D? Most definitely yes. I didn't feel it as strongly with Avatar, but HTTYD has settled the 3D debate, for me at least. Critics of 3D will henceforth be relegated to the Curmudgeon-camp.
